No Participating Institution may terminate the participation of any other. However, a Participating Institution’s participation will terminate automatically sixty (60) business days after the effective date of any suspension, restriction, termination, or expiration of its Assurance, or, if serving as a Reviewing IRB/Reviewing IRB Institution, sixty (60) business days after the effective date of any loss or lapse of its IRB's(s') registration with the Office for Human Research Protections. If agreed upon by affected parties, this sixty (60) business-day period may be extended for another thirty (30) business days.
If a Participating Institution is participating in a clinical trial network or other arrangement that has its own policies or terms and conditions of reliance, those policies or terms may include bases for termination of reliance or participation in that network/arrangement, and those will still apply; however, if such other termination occurs, the Participating Institution may continue to participate in SMART IRB with respect to other research studies that are not part of the network/arrangement.
