A Login failed message has two usual causes.
1. Your account has not been verified yet. A Site Admin at your institution must verify new accounts before they can sign in. Contact your institution's SMART IRB Point of Contact or Site Admin (listed on the Participating Institutions page). If your institution has no Site Admin yet, email help@smartirb.org.
2. You are signing in with a different method than the one on your account. For example, you chose InCommon Federation when you registered but are now using Login.gov, or vice versa. The system only accepts the method recorded on your account.
- To fix it permanently, email help@smartirb.org with your account email and the method you want to use. The correction is made by NIH's IT team, so it is not immediate.
- If you need access today, create a second account with a different email that you will use only with Login.gov, choose Login.gov as the preferred method, and create a matching Login.gov account. Ask your Site Admin to verify it. Let help@smartirb.org know so we can tidy up the accounts afterward.
Still stuck? Email help@smartirb.org with a screenshot and the email address on your account.
