This information should be communicated in the decision-making process. If using SMART IRB Version 3.0, the SMART IRB Standard Operating Procedures are in effect by default unless the institutions mutually document that another set of SOPs will be used for the given study or studies. Please note that use of SMART IRB V3.0 SOPs do not require separate documentation.
If the Participating Institutions wish to apply another set of SOPs to a given study, this can be documented in several possible ways. The institutions could mutually agree to the use of another set of SOPs via use of the Implementation Checklist; this could be outlined in a completed Letter of Acknowledgment; or it could be documented with a note-to-file and kept with your institution's electronic IRB system.
