What happens to existing V1.0/V2.0 studies?

All previously enacted reliance arrangements under SMART IRB Agreement Versions 2.0 or 1.0 that were present prior to the launch of Version 3.0 can remain on V2.0/V1.0 of the SMART IRB Agreement. Any new reliance requests, including additional sites on existing studies, would need to occur under Version 3.0 of the SMART IRB Reliance Agreement. No new reliance arrangements under V2.0 or 1.0 (including new requests on existing reliance studies in Online Reliance System) can be executed by SMART IRB Participating Institutions after March 16, 2025. 

If institutions agree, they may migrate existing research from V2.0/V1.0 to V3.0. Please note that for such a migration to occur, both the Reviewing IRB Institution and the Relying Institution would need to be SMART IRB Version 3.0 signatories prior to the migration of the research to V3.0. Both institutions must agree to the transition.
