Group Emails

Does your institution triage reliance requests, or otherwise use a centralized e-mail inbox to ensure visibility for reliance requests? The SMART IRB Reliance System allows institutions to ensure that group e-mails are included in all institutional and reliance request correspondence. To do so, please take the following steps:

1. From the Reliance System dashboard, select the ‘My Institutions’ module and select the institution that applies for this change:

2. On the left-hand side, select 'Contact Lists'

3. Under ‘SMART IRB POC’ , select the pencil to enable editing. Subsequently select ‘Preferred Email Type Group Email’, and provide the relevant email address.

Note that separate group e-mail addresses could be listed for the POC and alt POC, for institutions with separate reliance wings (e.g. biomedical vs social-behavioral IRBs).

4. Make sure to save your selection by selecting ‘Save’

Please note that due to concerns related to security and access management, group e-mail inboxes should not be created as user accounts in the Reliance System, as the non-personal nature of login and action logs under these domains do not meet standards for routine or for cause auditing.
